The In Flanders Fields series

In Flanders Fields is a series of poignant and evocative choral works with a theme of reconciliation and remembrance, set to iconic texts by John McCrae and Rupert Brooke.

Christopher Field writes: 'In this setting, the eight verses of the original poem have been linked in pairs. Between the third and fourth pairs, the quotation from 'Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht' (Silent Night) is a reference to the spontaneous singing of the carol by members of the opposing forces at Christmas 1914.

Christopher Field studied at Trinity College, Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music (London) and taught at Dulwich College for many years. He is a diploma examiner for the ABRSM, an adjudicator member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, and conducts the City of London Chamber Choir. His music has been published by Boosey & Hawkes, Weinberger, Yorke Edition and now Recital Music.
