Three pieces, newly discovered and edited by Professor E.H. Murphy, are ideal concert repertoire for the intermediate bassist and for anyone looking for something playable, accessible and enjoyable.

Basswaltz by Carl Christoph Saul is a charming late 19th-century waltz; Habanera by Carol Lascu (1880-1934) is an evocative Spanish dance by a Romanian composer who settled in France, and Et Puis... by Sainte-Cecile Ulac (1898-1946) refers to the addition of a surprising little coda to what otherwise seems to be a sort of Nocturne.

Accessible, tonal and enjoyable music which remains primarily in bass clef.

Basswaltz is included in the 2010 Trinity-Guildhall Grade 7 repertoire lists.
