'Be a Drummer Book.1' is the official drum kit syllabus used by STICK-AT- IT tutors in junior schools right across Cornwall. However you don't have to be having lessons with us to benefit from the great exercises and catchy songs crammed into this book. Each page has a drumstick practice record. Children are encouraged to colour in a section of the drumstick to indicate every 10 minutes of practice they do. Tutors or parents can then total up the minutes of practice on completion of the book and fill in the certificate accordingly. Book.1 takes beginners through the basics including holding the sticks correctly, simple rudiments as well as rock beats and drum fills. We also look at note values and rests and make them easy to learn with our cut out 'flash cards'. the drums shouldn't be a chore, so have fun from lesson one. Good Luck!
