The Christmas Choral & Vocal Music series
Recital Music has developed a large, exciting and eclectic catalogue of Christmas music for choirs in recent years. Some works are published for the first time, others are in new editions, and we aim to provide accessible and enjoyable choral music for choirs of all ages and abilities. Enjoy!
Away in a Manger was premiered at Penwortham Girls' High School (Preston) in December 2011 and is an evocative and inventive setting of traditional words with the addition of new music. It begins with unison voices or solo voice, dividing into two parts before the three part writing of the closing four bars brings to the carol to a successful conclusion. The vocal writing is memorable and accessible with a gently rocking and supportive piano accompaniment which subtly underpins the choral lines.
The composer has written a beautiful and lyrical new carol which should appeal to infant and junior choirs alike.
Carol Rose was born on the Isle of Man and now works in Lancashire as a music teacher, pianist, organist, singer, accompanist, composer and arranger.
