AC-133 is originally for bass quartet and was written in December 2008. This new version for double bass and piano was transcribed by the composer in August 2013 and the published edition will include accompaniments for both solo and orchestral tuning.

Simon Garcia writes: "AC-133 is the name of the road which leads to the little fisherman's town of Mugardos, where I born. The piece tries to transmit the happiness to a return your home town after a long time and to visit your family and friends for a few days in the Christmas holidays. AC-133 is the the last stretch of a long journey, when you can smell the sea and have a great feeling of arriving at home.

AC-133 for double bass quartet was premiered by The Bass Gang in October 2009 at the Suntory Hall in Japan. It is probably my first bass quartet "hit" and is nowadays played in many countries."

AC-133 for double bass and piano was premiered on 29 September 2013 at Wells Cathedral School (Somerset, UK) byu David Heyes (double bass) and Gus Tredwell (piano).

Bassist and composer Simon Garcia was born in Mugardos (Spain) in 1977 and graduated in double bass from the Conservatorio Superior of Salamanca. He has collaborated with many musicians and ensembles, particularly in the field of contemporary music, and has recorded and performed on many commercial recordings and for television and radio broadcasts.

Simon Garcia's music is lively, jazzy and rhythmic with great forward momentum and drive. Accessible for players and audiences alike, he writes colourful music of distinction and energy, employing the entire range of the double bass.
