Italian composer, Domenico Torta, has written a number of works for double bass in recent years and this work for double bass sextet brings together popular Mozart melodies from Eine kleine Nachtmusik, The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni and the melodies flow together in a rich and inventive tapestry which will endear the pieces to any audience.
Arranged for the bassists of the orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin it is full of energy and spirit and is a masterful transcription for the advanced ensemble. There are technical and musical challenges for each player, throughout the range of the double bass, and it is both player and audience friendly.
Voi Che Sapete (bars 35-70) can be performed as a separate piece for double bass trio.
