A very important addition to the voice and clarinet repertoire, by the renowned and esteemed Alan Ridout, which was originally written for Georgina Dobrée, probably in late 1978 or early 1979. For some reason she was unable to give the first performance and so clarinettist Lawrence Bradley stepped into the breach with singer Julia Cleobury. It took place on 3rd May 1979 (which happened to be a very busy General Election night, putting Margaret Thatcher into No 10 Downing Street) at St Edmund's School, Canterbury. The composer was in attendance.
