This Clarinet Sonata may have started life as a concerto, if the note by the composer's husband on the clarinet part is correct.

The Sonata received its first public performance in December 1870, the work orginally entitled 'Duo Concertante for Pianoforte and Clarinet in A', given by Lazarus with the composer at the piano.
