For two upper voice choirs with divisions, and tuned block

'Making Waves' was composed in honour of the centenary of Marconi's first trans-oceanic wireless signal sent from Cornwall and received in Newfoundland in 1901. The lilting melody parodies a neopolitan song, and at the same time hints at the haban~era from Bizet's Carmen.
