Glenn Miller was one of the most popular band leaders of his time in the 1930s and 40s. Here is a medley of four songs that were amongst his most famous, in an arrangement for concert orchestra that evokes the true Glenn Miller sound. The songs are In the mood , Moonlight Serenade , Pennsylvania 6-5000 and the St.Louis Blues . These songs are usually notated in 4/4 time but played in a swing fashion with dotted rhythms usually played lazily, more like a triplet. In an effort to synchronize the swinging of a whole concert orchestra (who may not be as used to playing swing as Glenn Miller and his orchestra) this arrangement has been written in 12/8 time to give more of a lazy feel, or, as the opening tempo instruction indicates, in the groove . Duration: 10½ minutes. Only for sale in Europe. A PACK comprises one full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and any wind, brass and percussion parts.. Format: Part (orch/band). Classification: Orchestral; Band; Large E. Media: Printed music.
