Matteo Carcassi (1792-1853) is considered one of the most representative Italian Guitarist-composers of the 19th century. His compositions were printed by all the main publishers of the time and the 25 Melodic and Progressive Studies Op. 60 - his best known and most admired work - are fundamental to the formation of the guitar student, thanks to the variety and distinctiveness of their technical and instrumental structure, and to their fluent melodic line, supported by a clear harmonic and stylistic framework.
