This Fanfare for solo organ was commissioned by the Leeds Organists' Association in celebration of the 60th Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, and was first performed by Graham Barber on the magnificent Schulze organ of Armley Parish Church near Leeds. A lively opening, based on fragments from the hymn tune 'York' leads to a meditative central section in which the hymn-tune is inverted: the opening figures return and a gradual crescendo leads to a grand concluding statement of the hymn. The work is equally suitable for recital programmes, and for a festive conclusion to a church service. Duration 4-5 minutes
