This release presents two rarely heard original LPs featuring the recently deceased Jim Hall (who died on December 10, 2013 at the age of 83) as a sideman. Both albums – Billy Taylor's Impromptu (Mercury SR60722) and Paul Bryant's Burnin' (Pacific Jazz PJ-ST12) – were recorded in a quartet format.
