Composer Information: Frank Cordell

Frank Cordell was born in Surrey in 1918. He spent several years working in all branches of film making before his war service with the R.A.F. (mainly in the Middle East) which lasted until 1947. He then worked chiefly for the BBC as freelance composer, arranger and conductor until 1952, when he became Musical Director for the 'popular label' sector of HMV.

Since 1962, when he spent a year in Hollywood, he has been composing and conducting for films and television. An accomplished pianist, he has had extensive experience in all branches of music, and has won many awards, including the Ivor Novello Award for his music in the film 'Khartoum'. Like his latest publisher (Emerson Edition), he lives on a farm in rural contentment, pitting his wits (with varying degrees of success) against the local fox for the continued survival of a mixture of livestock.
