Paul Mottram trained as a pianist, violinist at the Royal College of Music, before gaining an exhibition to study music at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge, where Robin Holloway was his composition professor. A post-graduate year was spent studying film composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Media composition credits include music for the BBC2 comedy series People Like Us and BBC Radio 4 comedy/dramas In the Red, Babblewick Hall, In the Balance and House of the Spirit Levels. He has also written music for numerous television commercials including Rover, Pizza Hut, Hitachi, Daihatsu, JVC, Faberge, Sure and Greene King. Paul also writes library music for Boosey & Hawkes and Audio Network having completed a contemporary orchestral Minimalism CD last year and is currently working on a symphonic 'Hollywood' album and a 'solo instruments' album.
Orchestration credits range from feature films Chaplin (composer, John Barry), Rain Man (composer, Hans Zimmer), Shirley Valentine (composer, Wily Russell), Castaway (composer, Stanley Myers) and High Spirits (composer, George Fenton) to BBC Drama (Born To Run) and the RSC (Bartholomew Fair). He has also been heavily involved in the restoration and re-recording of William Walton and Malcolm Arnold's 'lost' film scores of the 40's and 50's.
