Duo-ASTA was composed in 1997 for the American String Teacher's Association and is full of great energy and momentum, offering musical and technical challenges to the bassist in equal measure. The piece makes use of much of the solo register, but always in a meaningful and creative way, and the musical line is always to the fore. A fun work full of rhythmic momentum and evocative timbres and textures.

The printed edition includes accompaniments for both solo and orchestral tunings.
