In 2003 Denis Grotsky entered the Gnessins' Music Academy in Moscow where he studied piano (Prof. V.Nossina) and composition (Prof. G.Tchernov) and finished his postgraduate studies there in 2011. During his studies Denis undertook a number of cultural and organisational activities and from 2008 – 2010 he was the assistant to Mr. Juozas Budraitis, the Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania. In 2007 he composed a piano concerto which won 1st Prize in the R.Shchedrin international competition in Moscow. In 2009 Denis finished his Concerto for Double Bass and Symphony Orchestra which is highly regarded: this composition was performed by N.Gorbunov in Moscow State Conservatory and attracted the interest of international double bass soloists such as Thierry Barbe (France) and Catalin Rotaru (USA).
