Composer and pianist Denis Grotsky was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1983 into a family of musicians and began his career as a pianist at the age of six at a concert in Germany. From 1998 to 2004 he became the laureate of various international piano competitions.

In 2003 Denis Grotsky entered the Gnessins' Music Academy in Moscow where he studied piano (Prof. V.Nossina) and composition (Prof. G.Tchernov) and finished his postgraduate studies there in 2011. During his studies Denis undertook a number of cultural and organisational activities and from 2008 – 2010 he was the assistant to Mr. Juozas Budraitis, the Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania. From 2010 – 2011 he was the assistant to Mr. Antanas Vinkus, the Ambassador in cultural affairs and organised more then 50 cultural events for the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Russian Federation.

In 2005 Denis composed his first advanced compositions. Two pieces for string orchestra "Theme and variations" and "Introduction and Allegro" which were performed by the Vilnius St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra conducted by Prof. D.Katkus in the same year. In 2007 he composed a piano concerto which won 1st Prize in the R.Shchedrin international competition in Moscow. In 2009 Denis finished his Concerto for Double Bass and Symphony Orchestra which is highly regarded: this composition was performed by N.Gorbunov in Moscow State Conservatory and attracted the interest of international double bass soloists such as Thierry Barbe (France) and Catalin Rotaru (USA). This Concerto won the 1st Prize in the Recital Music International Composition Competition in the United Kingdom.

In December 2011 Denis Grotsky was invited as a jury member of the International Sergei Koussevitzky competition in St. Petersburg where his composition «Urban Movements» was an imposed work.

Since 2011 he has lived in Paris and continues his cultural activities: he gives the masterclasses of piano and compostition, he teaches music, performs new programmes and writes new compositions, and also writes music for films. In late 2011 he has completed his new composition for mixed choir and symphony orchestra.
