This release contains two outstanding consecutive albums in their entirety presenting Milt Jackson in different musical settings. Statements (Impulse AS14) is a quartet LP on which the leader is backed by Hank Jones on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Connie Kay on drums. Vibrations (Atlantic LP1417), on the other hand, features Jackson with a larger band that includes such stars as Jimmy Heath and Tommy Flanagan. Two beautiful ballads presenting Jackson fronting an orchestra conducted by Quincy Jones have been added as a bonus.
