John Miller is one of Britain's leading brass teachers. He read music at King's College, Cambridge, and subsequently won three awards which enabled him to study trumpet as a postgraduate in the USA.
He has worked extensively in London as a freelance musician, notably with the London Sinfonietta and the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. He was a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra between 1977 and 1994, as well as playing as a guest in many other orchestras. He is a founder member of the Wallace Collection.
John has been a professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama since 1979 and a brass tutor for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain since 1991. In 1993 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Guildhall School. His teaching activities have included masterclasses in China, Finland, Germany, Japan, USA and the Paris Conservatoire.
