...this is a lively and infectious set of pieces. The rag contains plenty of contrasting material, both in the melodic treatment and the use of textures...Articulation is very clearly defined, and there are some worthwhile and challenging scalic passages. There is a thoughtful balance of homophony and more independent lines. The waltz is very stylish, capturing the essence of a jazz waltz groove without diluting the melodic drive. 'Latin Moment' is a very effective salsa, with good idiomatic writing. The rhythmic figures are apparently complex, but will be familiar aurally to the players. A good way into difficult reading. The students will want to play this one again and again...A very good set of pieces.
