For much younger pupils, John Widger's Easy Latin String Orchestra provides a very entertaining introduction to ensemble playing. The eight pieces are designed for grade 1 string players and parts are also provided for open strings only, an invaluable extra which saves those hastily scribbled last-minute arrangements. Refreshingly, the first violins do not monopolise the melodies and Widger introduces some lively rhythms which connot fail to appeal. Highly recommended
