Arranged by David Heyes for double bass quartet, this publication includes two versions of Basse Dance - for intermediate and also for advanced quartet - both are in score format.

Pierre Attaingnant (c.1494-1551/52) was a French music publisher, active in Paris, and became the first music publisher to achieve mass production. He published more than 1,500 chansons by different composers and was the king's music printer from 1537-47.

Basse Dance is in one movement with two optional repeats which can used to feature a range of dynamics and even playing styles. They are playable by massed basses, with the possibility to feature a solo quartet at times, and the addition of dynamics can create a unique performance every time. Vibrato can be employed as one colour contrasted by passages played without vibrato and each ensemble should experiment to develop the many tonal and timbral possibilities of the double bass quartet.

David Heyes has arranged several hundred ensembles for double bass, many for Bass-Fest and one-day workshops, which include all levels of performer. Basse Dance was transcribed for a workshop in Exeter (UK) in 2014 with the bowings and part distribution carefully arranged to suit a specific ability level.
