The Beginner Bass Series series
Recital Music publish music for every level of double bassist and in the past few years have concentrated on music for the younger player. This new and exciting series includes works with simple, accessible technical and musical challenges for beginners and progressing bassists. Piano accompaniments are supportive and written with the bass teacher in mind, creating a new repertoire which is ideal for concert and educational use.
5 short pieces for the beginner bassist. Written in a lively, enjoyable and accessible style, each piece uses a limited number of notes and rhythmic patterns to help develop musical and technical skills from the outset. The piano accompaniments are simple and supportive, aimed at the pianistic skills of the average teacher, offering new and inventive first concert or exam repertoire. Limited to 1st position, they use a number of keys and musical styles which should appeal to players and teachers alike.

Jan Faulkner was a member of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for many years and is also a Specialist Percussion Teacher at Wells Cathedral School, alongside her recent appointment as Outreach Officer at the school. She has composed music for almost every occasion and is writing a series of double bass books for the young bassist.
