Following on from the first two books in the series, The Young Violinist's Repertoire Book 3 presents pieces of moderate difficulty (around AB Grade 2-4) that give plenty of scope for development of the bow arm, introduce spiccato and require some finesse of execution.

There is also ample opportunity for the introduction of vibrato.

The first ten pieces are in first position enabling the player to master the basics of a sound technique before undertaking the crucial step to third position ("Maytime" and "Bulgarian Dance" are entirely in third position).

This should prepare the ground for players as they tackle their larger scale works as they will already have met many of the techniques and playing styles that these will require.
