Chicago is an American musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. Set in the Chicago jazz age, the musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, about actual criminals and the crimes on which she reported.

The original Broadway production opened in 1975 and ran for 936 performances. Fosse choreographed the original production, and his style is strongly identified with the show. It had it's West End debut in 1979 where it ran for 600 performances.

At the request of the basses of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra this arrangement differs from many of those in the Fourbass catalogue in that all four basses have a solo at some point, therefore all four parts require players converse with higher technique.
