2 LPs ON 1 CD

This release contains two complete original albums by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers: Jazz Messengers!!!!! (Impulse AS-7), and Mosaic (Blue Note BST84090). While both LPs were recorded during the course of the same year, they present slightly different formations of the group, with Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard alternating on trumpet, and Bobby Timmons and Cedar Walton switching off on piano. Blakey, trombonist Curtis Fuller, tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter and bassist Jymie Merritt play on both albums.
