The pieces are very tuneful, have interest and life, and the young player should obtain enjoyment from working at them.

The pieces are sensibly written and within the capabilities of players of grade 3-4 standard, though those with small hands will find the occasional hand-stopped notes a problem. The musical substance of the pieces is charming, particularly in the hauntingly expressive Ballade which opens the set.
