JACK GRIFFIN, born and educated in Leicester, retired from his life's work of teaching in City schools in 1982. Music has always been a spare-time activity, but he has pursued it enthusiastically, and personal tuition from a distinguished local musician, Dr. Ben Burrows, led to the London B.Mus., FRCO and LRAM.
He has been organist and choirmaster at three Leicester churches since 1948; he has sung as tenor soloist in oratorio and cantata, and lectured in the History and Appreciation of Music for the Workers' Education Authority.
In 1978 he formed his own choir, `The Jack Griffin Singers'.
