Robert Rohe was born in New York in 1916 and graduated from the Peter Cooper School of Fine Arts, N.Y.He studied the double bass with Frederick Zimmerman.From 1944 for over 30 years he held the post of principal with the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra, working during 1947 with Toscanini and Reiner in the NBC Symphony.As a composer, his best-known work Land of Bottle has been performed worldwide.
