Peter Wildman

Composer Information: Peter Wildman

Peter Wildman was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1957. He studied piano with Rysard Bakst at the Royal Northern College of Music. Whilst working for his honours degree, Peter took a keen interest in composition, and took lessons with Petr Eben, Antony Gilbert and Sir Lennox Berkley.

He studied post-graduate composition with Alfred Nieman, at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Presently he runs a teaching practice in London, and occasionally gives performances of his own works.

‘Trance’, for Two Pianos, Eight Hands, was premiered by ‘Piano 40’, www.impulse-music.co.uk/lpq.htm, at the Purcell Room on London’s South Bank on May 6th 2002. Further performances have taken place in the U.S., China and Canada, where it has also be taken up by the Vancouver Piano Ensemble. The ‘Baynov-Piano-Ensemble’, www.baynov-piano.de, are planning future performances in Germany.

‘It’s as if’, six Metaphors for any solo clarinet, won the ARS POETICA Composition Competition 2002. It is published by ‘Emerson Edition’.

Further awards include ‘Secondo Premio’ of the CITTA DI BARLETTA Composition Competition 2002, and ‘Attesto di Merito’ from the TIM Composition Competition 2002.
