Edward was born and brought up in Birmingham. He studied music at Sussex University and the Royal College of Music and now enjoys a varied career as a freelance trumpet player, ranging from presentations on natural trumpet in a wig and tights at Hampton Court Palace to appearances with orchestras, contemporary music ensembles, big bands and shows. He is a founder member of the quintet Mardi Brass. He has performed on numerous recordings and broadcasts and makes a fleeting appearance in the Oscar-winning film Elizabeth – the Golden Age.
Edward’s teaching commitments have ranged from primary schools to universities. He has arranged and composed music for shows and a wide variety of ensembles and his music has also been published by Boosey & Hawkes and Warwick Music.
He lives in Surrey with wife Sian and their four children, Ben, Oliver, Elin and Tess and dog Tasha. (He supports Aston Villa!)
