Composer Information: Mark Pulman

Graduated (First Class) from the Royal College of Music, being awarded the
Raymond Ffennell Graduate Prize and the Colles Thesis Prize. Mark studied
pianoforte with Angus Morrison, bassoon with Kerry Camden and Compositional
theory with Philip Wilkinson.

He was Head of Department at Firth Park Comprehensive School, Staveley
Grammar School, and Kirkby Centre. He has extensive music industry and
business experience, which includes Novello & Co (Education Executive),
Warner Music (Sales and Marketing Executive) and Spartan Press Music
Publishers (Sales).

Mark was appointed Lecturer in Music and Popular Music for the BA Degree
Programmes (University of Sheffield) taught at Barnsley College of Higher
Education in 1999. He was Head of School (Music) at Barnsley College and has
a keen interest in writing and arranging music for children that reflects
popular and contemporary styles that might foster enthusiasm and motivation
in children's music making. Mark is now Senior Lecturer in Popular Music at
the University of Huddersfield. He is published by Spartan Press, Prima Arts
and Evening Star Music.

Mark Pulman obtained an M Ed from the University of Nottingham (1985). He is
currently researching Peer Assessment in Popular Music for his PhD. His
other research interests are Aesthetic responses to Music and Philosophy of
Music Education.
